Guests are always welcome!

Spotlight: Several times a year, various techniques are demonstrated, hands on projects are done, or special programs are presented. These programs may be slide shows of other guilds or national shows. Occasionally there may be an outside/local teacher giving a class. Sometimes these are combined with Community Service workshops.
Community Service Workshops: Approximately nine times a year, the Community Service Committee plans workshops. We usually meet at the Senior Center, 1424 Moore St.; see map for directions (PDF, new page will open), on the Saturday following the monthly meeting from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. We provide the labor and machines, and the Guild provides the materials. Most of the quilts are given to individuals who have lost everything in a house fire.
Small Quilt Groups: Generally these are very unstructured groups who meet in members' homes or one of the quilt stores as often as weekly or as little as monthly. Members are encouraged to start their own group among those of like interest or to join present groups.
January: Quilting in the Snow A two day weekend retreat held at Chena Hot Springs Resort. Guild members enjoy classes and relaxation as they get away to do what they enjoy most - quilting, eating, and socializing - away from the demands of home.
February: Ugly Fabric Drawing
March:

Secret Pals Revealed Secret pals are revealed at this meeting. An entire year of anticipation is culminated in this meeting, when 'Secret Pals' discover who has been the source of the many delights of past months. Chairperson collects the information from all members who wish to participate in the next year - and new secret pals are assigned to begin their sharing in April.

Art Expo and
National Quilt Day The third Saturday in March is National Quilt Day. In 2004, we started a new tradition of making a quilt in a weekend at the Fairbanks Arts Association Art Expo, a weekend of artist workshops and

April: Annual Pot Luck Dinner and Potholder Exchange Members share their culinary delights as each brings a dish for this potluck dinner which precedes the regular meeting. A time for food and socializing: both greatly enjoyed by all quilters. Immediately following the meeting, a potholder exchange is held. Each member who wishes to particiapte brings a potholder of her own creation and receives another in return. Members are encouraged to bring an extra potholder to contribute toward our table at the University Women's Bazaar in November.
May:

Ugly Fabric quilt show & tell.

Annual Fashion Show Members are encouraged to model any garments made during the year.

June: Solstice Quilting Party Takes place on or near the longest day of the year, which gives every participant the opportunity to quilt as long as the sun stays up - all night! It has also been rumored to include food, hot tubbing and swimming. In the past, a mystery quilt has been a part of the program - as well as an unfinished project night.
July:

Biannual Quilt Show
Held at the Fairbanks Arts Association Gallery at Pioneer Park (formerly AlaskaLand). This special show draws many spectators from around the world. The raffle quilt is displayed and small quilts may also be offered for sale through the Fairbanks Arts Association.

Small Quilt Show
Small quilts made for the silent auction during the TannaValley Fair are shown for a weekend at the Wickersham House in Pioneer Park (formerly AlaskaLand). Viewers are asked to vote for their favorite.

August:

Tanana Valley Fair Quilt show and competition. Our guild judges and displays all entries in this division of the Fair. members narrate the Quilt Show every hour during the Fair. Also, held at the fair is a Small Quilt Auction. This silent auction of small and miniature quilts made and donated by members is a very important fund raiser for our Guild.

September: No special activities are planned for September.
October: Annual Meeting October marks the end of the year for the Guild. Our annual meeting is a special event, held in a local restaurant with dinner and many special items on the program. Outgoing officers and committee persons are honored and new officers are installed. The drawing for our annual raffle quilt is done at this meeting and usually a challenge is due for display.
November: University Women's Bazaar The Guild participates annually in the University Women's Bazaar, held at the Wood Center on the UAF campus on the first weekend of November. This bazaar, one of the Christmas season's first and largest, attracts many shoppers and is a good source of funds.
December: Ornament Exchange In the spirit of the holiday season, members exchange ornaments following the business meeting. Each participant brings an hand crafted ornament and receives by lottery one brought by another member.
