Chena
Hot Springs Resort |

| A
two day weekend retreat held at Chena Hot Springs Resort. Guild
members enjoy classes and relaxation as they get away to do what
they enjoy most - quilting, eating, and socializing - away from
the demands of home. |

Supplies
list for Friday night bag class
- one placemat
- sewing
supplies (scissors, thread,
pins, needles, etc.)
- sewing machine (you
really do need to do this by machine... not that anyone else
worries about this, but I ALWAYS want
to sew by hand!)
- trims: fancy
buttons, pre-sewn beaded trim (Walmart or JoAnn's, Snow Goose);
again, experiment! Do
you have some lace you didn't
know what to do with, or a fragment of fabric that's just
too cool to toss? A piece of heavy costume jewelry would
be awesome
on a heavier weight mat;
what about a pearl necklace handle? Think FUN!
- velcro or a button for closure
- ribbon
or rattail cord for a strap

Placemats:
Value Village has them for $0.69 and up. Try to get the
medium weight placemats; the heavier ones might be hard to sew
through, and the light weight ones don't have enough body so that
you can carry things in them. But if you see one you really like
and you think it's the wrong weight, try it anyway! Don't be afraid
to experiment; these are SO easy to make and if you get a placemat
from Value Village, it's plenty cheap enough for experiments. I
will have a number of different designs at Chena Hot Springs, so
bring several placemats if you like. These take literally 10
minutes to make! |
